I know, I know – this post is long overdue, but you guys know what they say; rather late than never 😉
This was my Easter Mani for this year. I decided to recreate speckled eggs and top it off with an easter bunny as an accent nail.
I started off with the Essence Gel Base Coat and topped it off with some funky speckled egg colours. I then used my Dotting tools to make the dots on the eggs 🙂
~ Side note ~ if you don’t have dotting tools you can always use a bobby pin, orange wood stick or the point of a ball point pen; this works just as well.
Now the fun part…making the bunny decals. Have you guys ever tried making your own nail decals? This is so easy and convenient especially if you have to do nail art with you left hand!
In all honesty, my left hand sometimes feels very dumb – if you know what I mean; so doing nail art with your left hand can be tricky. Start off by painting a base coat on a plastic sleeve. Once that has dried completely; start your nail art drawing and wait for it to completely dry.
Once completely dried; paint another layer of clear top coat to seal your design. I swear by Essence so I just use the clear Essence nail polish. The reason for this step is to seal in your pretty design.
Leave the design to completely dry once again. If it’s not completely dry and you try to peel it off; it will smudge and tear and believe me; you don’t want that. Been there; got the smudges and tears to prove 😉
Paint a layer on clear on your accent nail. This layer shouldn’t be wet or dry when you put your decal on. Your polish still needs to be tacky. While waiting for your polish to get tacky; slowly and carefully peel off your decal and cut to size to fit your nail.
Now carefully place the decal on your tacky accent nail. Make sure you get out all the air bubbles to avoid bumps underneath your decal and press the decal down firmly. If you have some of the decal hanging over your nail edge make sure you take your nail file and file downwards only and not back and forth as this will also ruin your decal. If you file down; this will help the excess piece of decal to come of clean without any hassles. You can use your cleanup brush with some acetone to clean up the excess decal around your cuticle.
Now seal your cute mani with your choice of top coat. I personally love and swear by the Essence Gel Range. I love the top coat! Seals your mani, protects it and makes your nails stronger.
Let me know what you think.
Have a good Monday everyone 🙂 and thanks for reading.
